Cooking with essential oils is a great way to add some healthy benefits to what you eat.Having a strong immune system can make a difference in the quality of our lives. Here are some tips and recipes that are favorites.

Balance pH and Support Your Immune System

Our bodies will find the blance needed for good health if we give them what they need through diet and supplementation. Young Living has four supplements to address the health issue of pH and strong immune system.

1) Green Foods! Consider boosting your diet with "green foods" which contain chlorophyll in abundance, such as MultiGreens, which contains spirulina, sprouted barley and other whole foods which work as powerful detoxifiers and immune-building agents.

2) Alkalize with AlkaLime. AkaLime is a precisely-balanced alkaline mineral and essential oil powder that helps to safely reduce the acidity of the digestive system. Containing calcium, magnesium and potassium AlkaLime provides the much needed nutrients to counteract acid-ash foods.

3) Digest Better! Life 5 is a superb probiotic, one of the best I've seen. 5) Boost Antioxidants and Alkalize! Therapeutic-grade Lemon essential oil is delicious, high in antioxidants, and has an alkalizing effect on the body. simply add 2-4 drops a day to a glass of water. Do NOT ingest other brands of essential oil as they are not intended for internal use.

Relaxing and Restful Sleep Blend for Diffusing During Cold or Flu

Diffusing at the onset of a cold or flu can help significantly in reducing symptoms of cold or flu. In some cases, if caught early enough, the action of therapeutic grade essential oils can kill the micro-organisms altogether and help your cold or flu go away. At the very least this recipe should be helpful in helping you to get the rest you need.

You'll need:

A Diffuser (avoid diffusers that use heat as a means to disperse your essential oil as heat destroys the beneficial molecules)

Several drops of each of these therapeutic grade essential oiils: Lavender, bergamot, Melaleuca (tea tree), and Ravensara.

Simply add several drops of each essential oil listed to your diffuser and turn diffuser on. Some diffusers have a timer which is useful. If your chosen diffuser does not have a timer you can purchase one at any home improvement store, it's the same type of timer you would use to turn your lamps off and on. Set the timer to go off and on for 15-20 minutes an hour throughout the night.

Aromatherapy Cold and Flu Bath Recipe

Help lessen the symptoms of cold and flu with this recipe of therpeutic grade essential oils.

You'll need:

1 cup Epsom Salts or Sea Salt

2 drops Lavender essential oil

2 drops Ravensara essential oil

2 drops Marjoram essential oil

2 drops Lavender essential oil

In a small bowl, mix salt and essential oils together well. Under running bath water, add the essential oil bath salt mixture, swirl bath water to disperse and disolve salt. Soak for 20 minutes.

Do not expect to get beneficial results if you're not using therapeutic grade essential oils such as Young Living Essential Oils.

Chest and Sinus Congestion Recipe

This recipe is terrific to use when you feel a cold coming on and may be useful in alleviating congestion after a cold has set in. The essential oils in this recipe are known to be helpful in addressing cold symptoms.

You'll need:

2 cups water

2 drops Lavender essential oil


2 drops Tea Tree (Melaleuca) essential oil


2 drops Eucalyptus
 radiata essential oil

2 drops Ravensara essential oil

Boil a pot of water and remove from the stove and carefully pour hot water into a medium sized mixing bowl. While the water is still steaming, add 2 drops of all the essential oils listed. Carefully cover the bowl and your head with a towel and inhale for at least 3 minutes. Keep eyes closed while your head is under the towel.

Boost Your Immune System Massage Blend

What better way to boost your immune system than with a massage! This recipe includes YL pure therapeutic grade essential oils to help you stay well.

You'll need:

1 oz. V-6 Massage Oil

15 drops Ravensara essential oil

10 drops Rosemary essential oil

6 drops Thyme essential oil

4 drops Cinnamon essential oil

4 drops Clove essential oil

Mix V-6 and essential oils into a squirt bottle, give a little shake to combine the oils together. Enjoy this amazing massage!

Cold Congestion

Place a drop of Peppermint oil on the tongue and inhale into the nose and sinuses to relieve congestion from a cold.

My Favorite Vitamin C Supplement Ever!

Thieves & Inner Defense

During cold and flu season I always make sure to have plenty of Thieves essential oil and Inner Defense softgels on hand.

I use the Thieves oil in two ways: 1. apply a couple drops to the soles of my feet, and 2. diffuse in my nebulizer diffuser 15 to 30 minutes a day.

Inner Defense is very powerful and has on at least two occasions knocked out a cold and sore throat within a few hours in it's beginning stages.
